I have created this space to offer high-quality psychological support, coaching insights, and evidence-based information and strategies available—without the waiting list.
Whether you are curious about how CBT works, looking for help with specific challenges, or just want a place that feels calm, grounded and growth-focused—this is for you.
I’m Sonya Black, a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, Coach, Compassion Focussed Therapist, Mindfulness Teacher, Trainer, Family Mediator with 20 years experience.
The How?
One of the questions I am asked most is, how?
Clients I work with tend to be intelligent, motivated, and very willing to ‘do the work’. The question is how do I feel better, understand why I am feeling like this, what can I do about it? How do I make the necessary changes?
CBT tends to be a short term therapy because clients develop an understanding of themselves - in the context of their life and experiences, valuable insights, develop psychological knowledge and a bespoke toolbox of strategies and techniques. This means you can be your own therapist and live the life you want.
I created this space to meet you where you are.
Whether you’re working through something specific, trying to be more intentional in your day-to-day life, or just want a thoughtful corner to reflect and grow—this is for you.
Finding Clarity
There is a wealth of information available to people, globally, on mental health and psychology via the internet and social media. It can feel overwhelming and confusing.
I would like this space to feel like a supportive community, an extension of the therapy space I offer 1:1 clients. Somewhere you can find sanctuary from your busy, perhaps chaotic life and focus your energy on you and your personal development.
With long waiting lists on the NHS, financial constraints within personal budgets, not every one can afford a course of therapy. Nor is it always the right option.
Therapy is about the right time, right therapist, right approach. Not everyone is ready for therapy, but they are ready to start thinking and experiencing life differently.
As I said earlier, my clients are intelligent people and have been using a multitude of strategies to attempt to manage the difficulties they may be experiencing, with varying degrees of success. This space can offer specific information, with suggested tools and strategies to help with common issues, such as anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties to name just a few.
What can you find here?
This space is built on the principles I bring into every therapy session - warmth, understanding, no judgement, validation, evidence-based information, strategies, techniques and tools, and a deep respect for your autonomy and complexity as a human being.

And most of all, I want you to know that it’s okay not to have it all figured out. I am a psychotherapist and I still make mistakes and learn many new things every single day!
